How to complete the Income task

Depending on your employment type (Employed, Self-employed, Unemployed, Student, or Retired) your income confirmation journey may look slightly different.

We recommend verifying your income through Open Banking whenever possible. If that’s not an option, you can also upload your documents manually.

If you’re Employed

(Also for Unemployed, Retired, or a Student statuses)

Confirm your income using Open Banking

  1. Tap Confirm my income

  2. When the Open Banking pop-up appears, scroll down and tap Link my account

  3. Search for and select your bank

  4. Tap Allow — you’ll be redirected to your bank’s app

  5. Select the bank account that receives your income

  6. You’ll return to Checkboard (if it takes longer than 1 minute, tap Close)

  7. Tap Confirm

  8. Choose the connected account

  9. Select your income transaction(s)

  10. Confirm what type of income it is:

    1. Employment income

    2. Government income / benefits

    3. Pension / investment income

    4. Other income

  11. Tap Add

You can add more income or tap Continue to move on.

If you’re Self-Employed

You’ll have two options to declare your income, depending on how you receive it.

Option 1: Income through online platforms or third parties

(e.g. PayPal, Uber, eBay)

  1. Tap Confirm my income

  2. Select Option 1

  3. Tap Link my account on the Open Banking screen

  4. Search for and select your bank

  5. Tap Allow → redirected to your bank’s app

  6. Select your account and return to Checkboard
    (if it takes more than 1 minute, tap Close)

  7. Tap Confirm, then select Option 1 again

  8. Choose your income transactions

  9. Tap Add more income sources to include extra payments

  10. When done, tap Continue

Option 2: Income received via bank transfers

(from individuals or various sources)

  1. Tap Confirm my income

  2. Select Option 2

  3. Follow the same Open Banking steps
    (Link → Select bank → Approve → Return to Checkboard)

  4. Tap Confirm, then Option 2 again

  5. Select the connected account

  6. Enter your total earnings manually

  7. Select the payment frequency

  8. Tap Add, then Continue

Don’t have Open Banking?

If you can’t connect through Open Banking:

  • Tap Manual income confirmation

  • Enter your income amount

  • Select frequency

  • Upload a clear proof of income (dated ≤ 3 months, shows name + details)

  • Tap Add

If you don’t have any income

Simply tap I don’t have an income and move to the next step.

Common questions

  • I’m working on a zero-hour contract — which information and documents should I upload?

Please fill out your employment details first. Then log in to Open Banking, where we’ll verify the income information you provided.

  • I regularly work overtime — will you take this into account when assessing my affordability?

Yes. We’ll ask you to link your bank account through Open Banking so we can confirm how much you’re earning each month, including overtime.


💡 Tips for a smooth experience

  • Make sure uploaded documents are clear and readable

  • Only upload documents dated within 3 months and showing your full name

  • If your Open Banking connection takes longer than 1 minute, tap Close and return

    to Checkboard
