What is Open Banking and why does it work
What is it and why do we use it
Open Banking lets you share your bank data securely with trusted apps , but only when you say so. It gives you more control and makes checks faster and safer.
We use Open Banking to verify your finances securely. No more uploading bank statements, instead connect your account through your bank’s own system. It is fast, secure, and fully regulated.
Why is it safe
Open Banking is fast, secure, and fully regulated.
Your bank login details stay with your bank, and only FCA-approved providers like Checkboard can access data — but only with your permission. You’re always in control and can stop sharing at any time. Over 6 million people in the UK already use Open Banking safely to verify their details with confidence.
How does Open banking work and what is my bank is not listed
Connect your bank securely through Checkboard — you’ll be redirected to your bank’s official app or website to log in and give consent.
Your bank then shares a read-only summary of your statement (recent transactions and up to six months of history) for verification purposes.
Checkboard never sees or stores your login details — everything is handled by your bank’s secure system.
Why You Can Trust Checkboard
Checkboard is FCA regulated, trusted by hundreds of UK law firms and estate agents, and built with privacy first.
Your data is encrypted, read-only, and used only to confirm your source of funds — never for marketing or unauthorised access.
How Long the Connection Lasts
Your permission lasts for up to 90 days, in line with Open Banking rules.
You can revoke access anytime through Checkboard’s app — full control stays with you.
Why Isn’t My Bank Listed and what to do?
Some banks or account types — like savings, joint, or international accounts — don’t yet support Open Banking or aren’t linked with our provider.
Scroll to the bottom of the Banking section, tap “I would like to do something else,” choose your reason, and upload your bank statements or proof of funds.
Ensure your uploads clearly show your name, account number, and transaction history.
