NFC (Near Field Communication) is a short-range wireless technology that allows two devices to communicate when they are very close together—usually within a few centimeters.

🔍 In Simple Terms:

It’s the tech behind things like:

  • Contactless payments (e.g., Apple Pay, Google Pay)

  • Tapping a phone on a card reader

  • Reading a passport chip with your phone

🛂 For ID Checks:

When your phone has NFC, it can securely read the chip inside your passport or national ID by just holding it close to the back of your phone—similar to how you tap to pay at a store.

To complete your ID check, your phone may ask for NFC (Near Field Communication) to be enabled. Please see article - "How to Enable NFC"
